Mayo Islands – A funding call for Rural Towns: closing date 31 March 2017

LEADER closed call for Sub Theme 1: Rural Towns.

Introduction: 

Mayo Local Action Group for LEADER invites Expression of interest of (EOI) under Objective 3 of the Local Development Strategy to support the regeneration of Rural Towns in County Mayo.

Funding under this call will be allocated to projects that support the enhancement of rural towns and contribute to making them a more attractive place to live, recreate and do business.

Attracting people and investment to town centres is key to the sustainability of rural areas. There are opportunities through LEADER to exploit our recovering economy to secure the regeneration of our towns and villages.                         

Overall budget:                           €276,520.00                       

What can be funded?                   

  1. Streetscape enhancement.
  2. Tidy Town initiatives.
  3. Maintenance/Restoration/Upgrade of built environment in town & villages.
  4. Development of recreational spaces (excluding playgrounds).

What can’t be funded?                

Projects with other sources of available funding.

Work that fall under the remit of Mayo County Council.

Who can be funded?                    

Community & voluntary groups and organisations in rural towns and villages.  Group of private sector interests but not considered secondary economic beneficiaries.

Application process:                      There is a two stage process:

Stage 1: Complete the “Expression of Interest” form to determine if your proposal meets the objectives of the County Mayo Local Development Strategy and complies with the LEADER Programme guidelines.

Stage 2: Applications that are successful at Stage 1 will be invited to submit a full application with the required supporting documentation. Invitation to application stage does not mean that you will be awarded grant aid as it is a competitive process with limited funding.
